Pirates open conference with 7-2 win over Gauchos
COSTA MESA -- The Orange Coast College women's tennis team opened the Orange Empire Conference portion of its schedule with an impressive 7-2 win over visiting Saddleback on Tuesday.
Straight-set victories in singles came from the Pirate foursome of Krystal Hernandez (6-0, 6-0), Nory Call (6-2, 6-1), Nicole Pham (6-3, 6-0) and Remi Sutton (7-6, 6-2).
In doubles, it was a sweep for OCC as Moss and Madelyn Koehly (8-3), Hernandez/Call (8-2) and Pham/Sutton (8-5) all posted victories.
The win improves the Pirates' record to 3-1 overall, 1-0 in the OEC. Coast returns to action on Thursday at Fullerton College, beginning at 2 p.m. The Pirates' next home match will be on Tuesday against Cypress, also at 2 p.m.
