Pirates make quick work of Lasers, 8-1

IRVINE -- It was another strong performance by the Orange Coast College women's tennis team as the Pirates travelled to Irvine Valley and posted an 8-1 victory over the Lasers on Thursday in an Orange Empire Conference matchup.
 
Singles wins were turned in by Madelyn Koehly (6-3, 6-0), Hayle Moss (6-3, 6-1), Nory Call (6-1, 6-3), Nicole Pham (6-1, 6-0) and Remi Sutton (6-3, 7-5).
 
A strong performance was also turned in by Krystal Hernandez, who, after losing a 2-hour, 45-minute marathon in singles (4-6, 7-5, 6-4), came right back and won in doubles with Pham, 8-4.
 
Other doubles wins were provided by Call and Moss (8-2) and Sutton and Claire Crossman (8-0).
 
The win improves the Pirates' record to 6-1 overall, 4-0 in the OEC. Coast will return to action on Tuesday at Saddleback, beginning at 2 p.m. OCC's next home match will be on Thursday against Fullerton, also at 2 p.m.
