Koehly leads OCC hopefuls into SoCal Regionals

CYPRESS -- There will be plenty of orange and blue on the Palm Desert tennis courts in two weeks at the Southern California Regionals, thanks to the strong play of several members of the Orange Coast College women's tennis team this past weekend at the Orange Empire Conference Tournament, played at Cypress College.

OCC's Madelyn Koehly, the No. 6 seed in OEC, earned a trip to Regionals after advancing to the quarterfinals following a win over Irvine Valley's Megan Miller.

In doubles action, Koehly teammed up with Hayle Moss and qualified with a 6-1, 6-4 win over Saddleabck's Heather Brandriff and Lauren Fetter, 6-1, 6-4.

Another team to qualify was the team of Krystal Hernandez and Nory Call, who topped IVC's Corliss Mejia and Alyssa Pekarcik, 6-1, 6-0.

The Southern California Regionals will take place May 3-5 in Palm Desert at the Monterey Country Club.
