Frisina heading to Chapman after stellar Coast career
COSTA MESA -- Orange Coast College sophomore libero Andi Frisina will be taking her talents to Champan University in the fall, according to head coach Chuck Cutenese.
Frisina, a 5-3 standout from Brea HS was a two-year captain for the Pirates, helping Coast to a 36-8 record in two seasons, helping Coast to the playoffs in both seasons.
During her Coast career, Frisina notched 663 digs, third-best in OCC history. She was twice a team Captain for the Pirates and she earned second-team, All-Orange Empire Conference honors both years in a Pirate uniform.
After a 328-dig performance in 2011, Frisina bettered that with 335 in 2012, helping Coast to a 19-3 record and a return trip to the second round of the Southern California Regional playoffs.
"Personally, Andi is one of those players that every coach wants," OCC head coach Chuck Cutenese said. "She was the driving force for our team when it came to training in and out of the gym and she's a very dedicated and fierce competitor.
"I have always said that if she were 6-foot-3, instead of 5-foot-3, I would be reading about her at the Division I level."
