Vegas set to play at Kean University
COSTA MESA -- Orange Coast College sophomore setter Kehaulani Vegas will continue her athletic and academic careers at Kean University in New Jersey, according to Pirate head coach Chuck Cutenese.
Despite seeing limited action as the backup setter for the Pirates in 2011 (13 games, 91 assists, five kills, 13 digs, five aces), Vegas was named a co-captain by Cutenese and she helped lead the Pirates to the second round of the Southern California Regional Playoffs before falling to eventual state-champion L.A. Pierce in five games.
As a freshman, Vegas played in 11 games and picked up 76 assists as the backup setter for the Pirates in 2010. Her hard work in practice and off of the court earned Vegas the Co-Coaches Award.
