Five Pirates earn all-conference honors
COSTA MESA -- Led by setter Michael Ensign, five members of the Orange Coast College men's volleyball team were named to the 2012 All-Pacific Coast Conference Team, as voted on by the head coaches of each team.
Ensign, a graduate from Corona del Mar HS, was named the PCC's Most Valuable Player after an incredible sophomore season for OCC. He notched 667 assists and 81 digs to help lead the Pirates (15-5, 11-1) to the Pacific Coast Conference title and a runner-up finish at the 2012 California Community College Athletic Association Men's Volleyball State Championships.
Joining Ensign on the all-conference list include first-team selections freshman opposite Dillon Emery and sophomore Chris Van Vuuren as well as second-team selections freshman middle blockers Austin Bagby and Sam Jergens.
Emery led the Pirates with 281 kills, 30 aces and 59 digs in 2012. Van Vuuren was second on the team in kills with 188 and he finished tied with Emery with 30 aces. He also finished with a team-best 12 solo blocks and 57 digs.
Bagby notched 69 kills, 14 digs and 34 block assists for the Pirates, while Jergens came through with 67 kills, 14 digs and a team-best 44 block assists.
