Hostetler, Pirates roll to 4-0 win over Jets

COSTA MESA -- The bright lights of LeBard Stadium have been the perfect setting for the home performances of Olivia Hostetler and the Orange Coast College women's soccer team as the Pirates cruised to a 4-0 nonconference win over Miramar College on Tuesday night.

Fresh off of a hat-trick performance a week ago in a 6-0 win over L.A. Harbor, Hostetler repeated the trick with another three-goal night. Alexis Lastra also scored for the Pirates (2-2), while assists were turned in by Tess Doucette, Jocelyn Culp and Chantelle Sanchez.

Goalkeeper Layla Cash earned her second shutout of the year with seven saves, including a point-blank opportunity by the Jets (1-2) in the final five minutes of play.

After a pair of frustrating shutout losses up in the Ventura Tournament last weekend, the Pirates came out flying in the first half and set the tone for the entire match. Hostetler's first two goals came over a 3-minute span midway through the first half to give Coast a 2-0 lead.

In the final seconds of the first half, Tess Doucette picked up a Miramar turnover and raced down the left side before feeding a pass right in front of the goal to Lastra, who deflected the ball into the back of the net to give Coast a 3-0 advantage at the break.

Just five minutes into the second half, a steal and laser off the foot of Hostetler capped off her scoring for the night and give the Pirates plenty of breathing room, leaving the rest of the game up to the OCC defense and Cash, who all did their jobs well.

Coast will once again play under the LeBard Stadium lights on Tuesday against Mt. San Jacinto, beginning at 7 p.m.
