Pirates keep on winning after sweep over Hawks
COSTA MESA -- The Orange Coast College women's volleyball team just keep on winning, claiming their 19th straight victory without a loss after a quick three-set sweep over visiting Santiago Canyon on Friday inside the Peterson Gym.
Nika Safavi continued her dominant play against the Hawks with 14 kills. Joey Payan added five kills, while Kyla Untalan and Kayla Ihrig each added four kills.
The win for the Pirates (19-0, 11-0 in the Orange Empire Conference) continues the unstoppable run for a Coast squad which has now won 26 consecutive sets, with its last set loss coming at the hands of SCC (0-13, 0-11) back on September 24. For the entire season, the Pirates have win 57 sets, while losing only 6.
With keeps OCC in front by two wins over second-place Golden West (12-3, 8-2) and Saddleback (12-4, 8-2) in the OEC Standings.
The Pirates will return to action on Wednesday inside the Peterson Gym against Irvine Valley (7-7, 7-2), beginning at 6 p.m.
