Pirates go low in dominating OEC matchup

CHINO -- The Orange Coast College women's golf team put up some VERY impressive numbers on Wednesday at El Prado Golf Club as the Pirates rolled to another 4-0 record at this week's Orange Empire Conference match.

Four Pirate golfers -- Michelle Khin, Sofia Ingle, Nalani Sam and Sophie Thibodeau -- each shot rounds in the 70s to lead Coast to a team score of 302, one of the lowest scores ever recorded in OCC women's golf history, according to head coach Sean Collins. Mt. San Antonio College was a distant second overall with a team score of 331, while Fullerton was third at 417.

Khin, Sam and Ingle each carded 3-over-par 75s for Coast, while Thibodeau carded a 77. Those four scores were four of the six 70s scores recorded by any of the golfers in the field on Wednesday, joining Cuyamaca's Emma Rahn (77) and Mt. SAC's Kaitlyn Wang (78).

Other to scores for the Pirates were turned in by Lilly Thurston, who shot an 89 and Brianna Georgeson, who carded a 96.

The 4-0 record on Wednesday improved the Pirates to 16-0 overall, four wins ahead of the Mounties for the top spot in the OEC.

Coast will head up to the central coast for a state preview matchup this weekend at the River Course at the Alisal before returning to OEC play on Wednesday at Dad Miller Golf Club, beginning at 11 a.m.
