Pirates top OEC field at CMCC
COSTA MESA -- The Orange Coast College women's golf team enjoyed the home turf on Monday as the Pirates topped the Orange Empire Conference field at the Costa Mesa Country Club's Mesa Linda Course.
Led by strong play throughout the entire Pirate lineup, Coast shot a team score of 312, 22 shots clear of runner-up Mt. San Antonio College, who shot a 344. Cuyamaca was a distant third with 402 , while Fullerton College placed fourth at 407.
Sophia Ingle was the low-round golfer in the group as she carded a solid 4-over-par, 74, two shots ahead of runner-up Danica Williams of Cuyamaca (76). OCC teammate Sophie Thibodeau shot a 77, while Mt. SAC's Kaitlyn Wang fired a 78, completing the sub-80 scores for the field.
The depth for the Pirates was on full display on Monday. Michelle Khin was close behind with an 80, followed by Nalani Sam (81), Lilly Thurston (85) and Audrey Crinella (86).
The Mounties had several 80s golfers, including Kyrie Padero (820, Leah Garcia (86) and Abby Price (88).
Top golfer for the Hornets was Ariana Perez (89), while College of the Desert's Daisy Castro shot the low round for the Roadrunners with a 92.
The OEC Field will take on Ironwood Golf Club for the next conference matchup, which takes place on Sept. 24, beginning at 10 a.m.
