Pirates battle for runner-up finish
EL CAJON -- The Orange Coast College women's golf team continued its steady play on Monday with another strong, second-place performance during Monday's Orange Empire Conference matchup, hosted by Cuyamaca College at Cottonwood Golf Club.
With four golfers within four shots of each other, the Pirates earned runner-up with a team score of 314, just eight shots behind first-place Mt. San Antonio's team score of 306. Host Cuyamaca finished third with a score of 329, while Fullerton (398) finished fourth.
Jeanie Tahvildari was the low shooter for the Pirates after carding a 4-over-par, 76. Moe Pyae Sone Khin and Delylah Collins were each three back of Tahvildari's performance with a pair of 79s, while teammate Sophia Tipton carded an 80, followed by Lilly Thurston (90) and Taylor Tuxford (91).
Low round for the day went to Mt. SAC's Kylie Lau, who shot an even-par 72, followed closely by Cuyamaca's Kiana Glossner, who finished with a 73.
Coast will return to action on Wednesday as the Pirates take on the rest of the OEC field at Fullerton Golf Club, beginning at 11 a.m.
