Pirates take second overall in OEC season opener
SAN JACINTO -- It was a long, hot day in the desert, but for the Orange Coast College women's golf team, the Pirates earned a cool, second-place showing in this year's season-opening matchup, hosted by Mt. San Jacinto, at Soboba Golf Club on Monday.
The Pirates earned a team score of 318 for the afternoon, just four shots behind first-place Mt. San Antonio College (314). Cuyamaca finished third with a team score of 336, followed by Fullerton (412) and Mt. San Jacinto (423).
Coast had two of the six sub-80 scores for the round. Michelle Khin joined Mt. San Antonio's Natalie Neal as the low round for the day, carding a 2-over-par, 74. Pirate teammate, Jeanie Tahvildari, was close behind with a 78, while Sophia Tipton came in with a solid round of 81.
Other strong OCC scores on Monday include Delylah Collins, who carded an 85, Lilly Thurston with a 92 and Taylor Tuxford with a 101.
Coast will return to action on Wednesday at the Cuyamaca Tournament, played at Cottonwood Golf Club, beginning at 11 a.m.
