Pirates hang on for 5-4 win over Mounties

WALNUT -- The Orange Coast College men's tennis team outlasted host Mt. San Antonio College and topped the Mounties, 5-4, on Tuesday at Mt. SAC in a nonconference matchup.

The Pirates (6-3) earned a split in singles play, thanks to straight-set wins by Julian Pittl (6-2, 6-4) and Josh Hennig (6-1, 6-1). At No. 6 singles, Maddox Goodman overcame an opening-set loss before earning a three-set win, 4-6, 6-0, 7-5.

In doubles play, Hennig and Jie Kashiwagi picked up an 8-4 win, while the No. 3 team of Nicolas Moore/Ethan Medel rolled to an 8-2 win.

On Friday, the Pirates will travel to Bakersfield College for a 2 p.m. matchup with the Renegades. OCC's next home contest will take place on Tuesday against Irvine Valley, also at 2 p.m.
