Pirates blank Mt. San Jacinto

COSTA MESA -- It was a solid start to the home campaign for the Orange Coast College men's tennis team as the Pirates shut out visiting Mt. San Jacinto, 9-0, on Thursday at the OCC Tennis Complex.

The Pirates (2-0) picked up straight-set singles wins from Julian Pittl (6-0, 6-0), Josh Hennig (7-6, 6-0), Nicolas Moore (6-1, 6-0) and Noe Viera (6-0, 6-2). Coast also picked up a pair of third-set tiebreaker wins from Jie Kashiwagi (6-3, 3-6, 10-6) and Ethan Medel (1-6, 6-4, 10-7).

In doubles play, it was more of the same for the Pirates, as the teams of Pittl/Kashiwagi (8-1), Hennig/Moore (8-4) and Medel/Chris Gates (8-4) each earned convincing victories.

Coast will return to action on Tuesday at home against Mt. San Antonio, beginning at 2 p.m.
