Unbeaten Pirates blank Hornets, 9-0
FULLERTON -- It was another dominating performance for the Orange Coast College women's tennis team as the Pirates shut out host Fullerton College, 9-0, on Tuesday in an Orange Empire Conference matchup.
The undefeated Pirates (15-0 overall, 4-0 in the OEC) made quick work of the Hornets in doubles play, jumping out to a 3-0 lead thanks to wins by Mebuki Kitakuni/Chantel Kamel (8-1), Kaylee Ho/Ava Bobek (8-2) and Minami Saito/Amanda Montanez (8-1).
In singles play, it was an impressive clean sweep for the Pirates, with wins coming from Kitakuni (6-0, 6-1), Ho (6-1, 6-0), Kamel (6-0, 6-3), Bocek (6-0, 6-0), Montanez (6-1, 6-2) and Terra Saharyildizi (6-1, 6-1).
The win keeps the Pirates one win up on Riverside City College (9-2, 3-1) atop the Orange Empire Conference standings.
Coast will take on the Hornets again on Thursday at Orange Coast College, beginning at 2 p.m.
