Pirates go to 3-0 with win over Corsairs
COSTA MESA -- It was smooth sailing for the Orange Coast College women's tennis team as the Pirates cruised to an 8-1 nonconference win over visiting Santa Monica City College on Friday at the OCC Tennis Complex.
In OCC's five singles wins, the Pirates (3-0) held the Corsairs to just nine games won total. Coast was led by wins from Mebuki Kitakuni (6-0, 6-1), Kaylee Ho (6-0, 6-1), Chantel Kamel (6-2, 6-0), Ava Bocek (6-1, 6-1) and Talia Saharyildizi (6-1, 6-2).
On the doubles side of things, it was more of the same as strong wins were turned in by the duos of Kitakuni/Kamel (8-2), Ho/Bocek (8-1) and Saharyildizi/Amanda Montanez (8-5).
Coast will return to the OCC Tennis Complex on Tuesday against Mt. San Antonio, beginning at 2 p.m.
