Pirates take third in OEC at Steele Canyon
JAMUL -- It was quite the drive down to Steele Canyon Golf Club, but in the end, it was a solid third-place performance for the Orange Coast College men's golf team against the rest of the Orange Empire Conference field on Monday morning.
The Pirates fired a team score of 387, just behind Cypress (379) and Cuyamaca (384) in a year where the top teams continue to beat up on one another. Riverside (391) finished fourth, followed by College of the Desert (394), Mt. San Antonio (396), Victor Valley (399), Mt. San Jacinto (408) and El Camino (424).
Coast (52-12) currently stands in a tie for second with COD (52-12), just three losses behind first-place Cypress (55-9) with one OEC matchup remaining before the conference finals at Costa Mesa Country Club on April 16.
Top scorers for the Pirates included Matt Ingram (72), Victor Chaparro (76), Troy Tarvin (78), Nate Rhee (80), Tyler Chapman (81) and Dallas Ryan (82).
