Pirates take top spot at Bear Valley

VICTORVILLE -- The Orange Coast College men's golf maintained its spot atop the conference leaderboard with a first-place performance at Monday's Orange Empire Conference matchup, at Bear Valley Golf Club.

Led by an outstanding performance from Troy Tarvin, the Pirates earned the top team spot with an overall score of 368, eight shots ahead of runner-up College of the Desert (376) and 10 shots clear of third-place Cypress (378). Riverside finished fourth with a 388, followed by Mt. San Jacinto (393), Mt. San Antonio (400), Victor Valley (401), Cuyamaca (407) and El Camino (415).

Tarvin earned the lone sub-par round of the afternoon after carding a 2-under-par 70. Victor Chaparro was close behind his OCC teammate after shooting a 1-over par, 73, while the other top scores from the Pirates came from Dallas Ryan (74), Tyler Chapman (75), Matt Ingram (76) and Nate Rhee (83). 

With the first-place finish, Coast maintains its spot atop the OEC standings at 36-4, followed by Desert (34-6), Cypress (33-7), Mt. SAC (23-17), Riverside (16-24), Victor Valley (14-26), Cuyamaca (13-27), Mt. San Jacinto (10-30) and ECC (1-39).

The next conference match takes place on Monday at Victoria Golf Club (hosted by Riverside City College), beginning at 9 a.m.
