Pirates take second at SoCal Regionals to earn spot at state
SAN DIEGO -- The remarkable 2025 season continues for the Orange Coast College women's cross country team as the Pirates finished second overall at the 2025 Southern California Regional Meet on Friday at Liberty Station.
Led by a solid third-place finish by Orange Empire Conference champion, Jocelyn Alba, the Pirates finished runner-up in the region with a team score of 96 points, trailing only Mt. San Antonio (61 points) in the 20-team field. San Diego Mesa placed third overall with 108 points, followed by Moorpark (178) and East Los Angeles (218).
Alba earned first-team, All-SoCal with her third-place time of 18 minutes, 16.56 seconds, just 30 seconds off of the top time turned in by Moorpark College's Maya Natarajan (17:46.81).
Earning second-team, All-SoCal honors was Pirate teammate Jasmin Trujillo, who finished 13th overall with a time of 19:01.62.
Two more Pirates -- Alejandra Reyburn and Belle Baker, earned top-30 finishes with Reyburn placing 22nd at 19:46.36 and Baker 30th at 20:09.
Other top OCC times were turned in by Mariana Hernandez (20:19.22), Isabel Ramirez (20:59.55) and Cassandra Garcia (23:14.25).
With Friday's performance, the Pirates will head to Fresno for the 3C2A Cross Country State Championships, which take place on Nov. 22 at Woodward Park.
