Pirates finish second overall at SD Mesa Invitational
SAN DIEGO -- The Orange Coast College women's cross country team took on an elite field and a tough course on Friday as the Pirates headed down to the 2025 Southern California Regional Preview Meet, held at Liberty Station.
Taking on the top runners of the region, the Pirates finished second overall in the 21-team event with 102 points, trailing only Mt. San Antonio's team score of 49. San Diego Mesa finished third with 115 points, with Point Loma (168), College of the Canyons (197), Southern Nevada (201), Cerritos (210), Long Beach City (213), San Bernardino Valley (238) and Modesto (259) rounding out the top-10.
With times getting faster and faster as the season progresses, the Pirates kept up with the rest of the region. Freshman Jocelyn Alba continued her strong 2025 season by finishing second overall, conquering the 5,000-meter course with a time of 18 minutes, 35.91 seconds. Only Mesa's Jazzlyn Islas (18:20.72) finished ahead of Alba among all 181 runners in the race.
Alejandra Reyburn was the next Pirate to cross the finish line, taking 12th place overall with a time of 19:37.6, with Jasmin Trujillo close behind in 21st place with a time of 20:06.56.
Other top Pirate teams were turned in by Mariana Hernandez (20:32.45), Isabel Ramirez (21:20.17) and Cassandra Garcia (24:27.89).
OCC's next race will take place on Friday, Oct. 24 when the Pirates compete in the Cal State Fullerton Invitational, beginning at 5 p.m.
