Pirates perform well at Biola Invitational
BREA -- Racing against several four-year programs, the Orange Coast College women's cross country more than held their own on Friday as they competed in the Biola University Invitational at Craig Park.
The Pirates, who finished eighth overall in the 18-team field, were led by Jocelyn Alba, who ran the 5,000-meter course with a time of 18 minutes, 37 seconds, good enough for 13th overall.
Cracking the top-50 in this elite field was Jasmin Trujillo, who finished 47th with a time of 19:42, followed by Alejandra Reyburn (19:51), Mariana Hernandez (20:35), Belle Baker (20:52), Isabel Ramirez (21:36) and Cassandra Garcia (24:05).
Coast will return to action on Friday at the Golden West Invitational at Huntington Beach's Central Park, beginning at 9:30 a.m.
