Pirates start season off strong with 4-0 win over LA Harbor

COSTA MESA -- A goal-scoring trifecta in the opening 10 minutes set the tone for the Orange Coast College men's soccer team as the Pirates opened the 2025 season with an impressive 4-0 win over L.A. Harbor College on Tuesday night inside LeBard Stadium.

Sophomore Zenden Berbari got things going for the Pirates with a pair goals in the 5th and 9th minutes, respectively, before Collin Lacher found the back of the net in the 10th minute and suddenly, OCC was up, 3-0 before the lights took full effect inside the stadium.

From there, the Sehawks tried to get back into the game by way of force, but the Pirates withstood the physical play (and the four yellow cards and one red card from LAHC) and kept the guests off of the scoreboard the entire evening.

Coast outshot Harbor, 11-6 and OCC's Kotaro Kobayashi needed just two saves to preserve the shutout win.

Finally, in the final minutes, a breakaway foul on Berbari caused LAHC's goalkeeper, Sal Tojil to be given a red card, and from there, Ossy Portillo made sure Berbari's painful bruise was worth it as he ripped a free kick into the corner of the goal as the perfect exclamation point on Tuesday night's win.

Coast will return to action on Friday inside the OCC Soccer Complex against Southwestern College, beginning at 3 p.m.
