Pirates take fourth at OEC opener

CYPRESS -- The Orange Coast College men's golf team kicked off the Orange Empire Conference portion of the 2026 schedule with a solid fourth-place finish against the other OEC squads on Monday at the Navy Golf Course.

The Pirates shot a team score of 305 (+17), just behind front-runner College of the Desert (292), Victor Valley (301) and Cypress (304). Mt. San Antonio (310) finished fifth overall, followed by Cuyamaca (317), Riverside (317) and Mt. San Jacinto (328).

Low round for the day for the Pirates went to Nico Flemer, who carded a 2-over-par, 74. His 18-hole round featured 14 holes of par or better, including birdies on a pair of par-5 holes on the 570-yard sixth and the 565-yard 18th. 

Aiden O'Shea was close behind Flemer after shooting a 4-over, 76, followed by Nate Beckner (77), Giovanni Fontana (77), Nic Borelli (79) and Christo Mallakis (83). 

Low round for the entire field went to Victor Valley's Cory Rose, who shot a 1-under-par, 71, while a pair of COD standouts -- Logan Marra and Linus Utter -- each shot even-par 72s. 

The Pirates will return to action on Wednesday at Soboba Springs (hosted by Mt. San Jacinto), beginning at 10 a.m. OCC will host its OEC event on Monday at Costa Mesa Country Club, beginning at 10:30 a.m.
