Pirate trio shines at SoCal Heptathlon
MOORPARK -- The Orange Coast College women's track and field team was well represented at the two-day 3C2A Southern California Regional Combined Events Championships, which took place Tuesday and Wednesday at Moorpark College.
The Pirate trio of Nikki Witana, Sara Chupinsky and Tala Dawood earned the top three overall heptathlon scores among the entire Orange Empire Confernece, with Witana and Chupinsky earning a trip to the 3C2A State Championships for their performances.
Witana finished fifth in all of Southern California with a score of 3,428 points, followed closely by Chupinsky in 6th place (3,319) and Dawood in 10th place (2,421).
All three point totals were personal bests for the Pirate trio as they appear to be performing at their best at just the right time.

Coast will return to action on Saturday, April 12 at the Cerritos College Invitational, beginning at 10 a.m. OCC will be the host site for this year's Orange Empire Conference Championships, with the prelims set for Friday, April 18 at 1 p.m. and the finals on Saturday, April 26 at 12 p.m.
