Pirates take 6th overall at GWC Invitational
HUNTINGTON BEACH -- The Orange Coast College men's cross country took on an elite field of runners at the 2025 Golden West Invitational and the Pirates finished sixth out of 21 schools on Friday at Central Park.
Led by a 12th-place performance from sophomore standout Bernie Enriquez, the Pirates finished with a team score of 187 points, trailing only Cuyamaca (44), Riverside (48), Cerritos (61), San Bernardino Valley (119) and Bakersfield (120). Rounding out the top-10 after OCC was L.A. Harbor (260), De Anza (273), El Camino (289) and East L.A. (302).
Enriquez conquered the 4-mile course with a time of 21:23.59, just 40 seconds off off the winning time, set by Cuyamaca's Ivan Guzman (20:43.11). Other top times for the Pirates were turned in by William Dang (22:09.94), Jason Cifuentes (22:33.11), Nathan Garcia (22:52.77), Cayden Reish (23:42.31), Peter Cao (24:16.99), J.C. Overpeck (24:31.89) and Martin Montes (26:15.16).
OCC's next competition will take place down in San Diego on Friday, Oct. 10 at the San Diego Mesa Invitational, set for 10 a.m. at Liberty Station.
