Pirates find offense in 93-78 win over Chargers
CYPRESS -- The Orange Coast College men's basketball team found the baskets inside the Cypress College Gym very accommodating as the Pirates notched a 93-78 Orange Empire Conference win over the host Chargers on Wednesday night.
Will Ligon led the Pirates (7-15, 2-4 in OEC) with 24 point, while Leron Lacey added 16 points and five rebounds and teammate Zach Matar added 11 points. The trio combined to shoot 18-26 (69.2 percent) from the floor.
Andre Winn led the Chargers (8-14, 1-6) with 23 points, while Montel Taylor added 21 points and 12 rebounds and Julius Von Hanzlik added 15 points and 10 rebounds. The rest of the Cypress squad combined for 19 points on 6-of-16 shooting (37.5 percent).
On a team that prides itself on depth and production up and down the lineup, the Pirates' nine-man bench outscored the Chargers' four-man reserves 49-11.
OCC will open up the second round of conference play at home against Fullerton College on Friday night, beginning at 7:30 p.m.
