Pirates take second place at OEC Track and Field Championships
RIVERSIDE -- The Orange Coast College men's track and field team earned a second-place team finish with 113 points at the 2026 Orange Empire Conference Track and Field Championships on Friday at Riverside City College.
There were plenty of Pirate highlights on Friday, including the strong performances from all-around athlete, Josh Miller, who earned himself a silver medal at the 110-meter high hurdles with a runner-up time of 15.28 seconds, just a half-second behind RCC's Aden Johnson's time of 14.78. Miller also earned himself spots in next week's Southern California Regionals with a fourth-place time of 54.96 in the 400 hurdles and a fourth-place mark of 146-feet, 1-inch in the javelin throw.
It was another close call for Pirate runner, Bernie Enriquez in the 800, where he finished less than a half-second off the lead and won the silver medal with a time of 1:56.71, just behind RCC's Alex Wesolowski's 1:56.24.
Another double-qualifier for OCC was distance specialist, Jacob Fujimoto, who finished second overall in the 10,000 with a time of 34:43.69 and fourth in the 5,000 with a 15:57.55.
OCC's 4x400 relay team (Josh Santos, Bernie Enriquez, Sean McEwen, Jaylen Nichols, Anthony Buttacavoli) took home silver medals for their hard work, taking second with a time of 3:28.5, well ahead of third-place Fullerton (3:45.53) and fourth-place Golden West (4:03.7).
It was a 2-3 finish in the high jump for the Pirates, with silver going to Santos and bronze going to Cash Burton, each with clearing marks of 6-2 3/4. Santos also tied for second overall in the long jump with a mark of 23-0 3/4.
Bronze medal performances for the Pirates went to the 4x100 relay (41.87), just .32 behind RCC's winning time of 41.55 and .11 off of Saddleback's runner-up time of 41.76.
