Pirates capture 5-4 road win at Saddleback

MISSION VIEJO -- The Orange Coast College men's tennis team used strong singles play to rally for a 5-4 Orange Empire Conference win at Saddleback College on Thursday afternoon.

The Pirates trailed 2-1 after doubles, with their lone win coming from the No. 1 duo of Amer Rezaeinezhad/Jie Kashiwagi, 8-3.

Those same two helped set the pace in singles play, with Rezaeinezhad earning a 6-2, 6-1 win, followed by Kashiwagi's 6-0, 6-1 win. 

Luke Godding also earned a straight-set victory, 6-3, 6-1, but the winning match for Coast came at No. 5, where Josh Hennig, rallied from an opening-set loss to win the clinching point with a 4-6, 6-1, 6-2 win for the Pirates.

The win improves OCC's record to 5-5 overall and 1-2 in the OEC. 

Coast will take to the road for the next several matches, including Tuesday at Irvine Valley College, beginning at 2 p.m.
