Joyce moves on to Chapman University
COSTA MESA -- Orange Coast College men's basketball player John Joyce will be continuing his athletic and academic careers at Chapman University, according to head coach Steve Spencer.
Joyce, a 6-foot-8 power forward out of Corona del Mar HS, played in 24 games for the Pirates, both as a starter and off of the bench. He averaged just under four points and two rebounds per game for Coast as a sophomore last year.
One of his top games last year came against East Los Angeles, where Joyce played in only 15 minutes, but managed to score 12 points on 5-of-6 shooting and grab four rebounds. In fact, despite limited minutes, Joyce hit double digits in scoring three different times in 2012-13.
Prior to coming to Coast, Joyce attended Vanguard University and Irvine Valley College. As a prep standout for the Sea Kings, Joyce was a three-star athlete, competing in basketball volleyball and football.
