Joining the Pirates for his second season as an assistant coach is Nate Johnson.
Before coming to OCC, Johnson played is collegiate career at Pepperdine University, where he played from 2009-13. Over that span, he batted .247 with 15 home runs and 78 RBI and started in 135-of-156 games played.
Johnson earned All-West Coast Conference honorable mention in 2010 after batting .237 with 49 hits, 28 runs, nine home runs and 36 RBIs, starting all 54 games behind the plate for the Waves. Last year as a senior, Johnson was off to a hot start (.325 in 12 games) before suffering a season-ending injury.
Johnson’s primary duties for the Pirates will be working with the outfielders.
Nate is single and resides in Lake Forest, where he enjoys golfing and going to Angels’ games.
