Bio
Linda Moeller was given the opportunity to create the OCC women’s crew program from scratch and for 12 years, she not only did so, but she helped create the winning traditions that have continued with the team to this very day. As OCC’s sailing coach and adviser to the college’s Associated Students Board of Trustees, she quickly changed titles into women’s crew head coach for the start of the 1993 season and the program has never looked back. What started with nine rowers in Year 1 quickly jumped up to more than 50 in less than a decade of competition. Learning how to coach crew on the fly and spending countless hours fundraising and finding financial support for this self-sustaining sport, Moeller dedicated the next 12 years of her life to keeping the women’s crew program on the right course. Over her tenure, Moeller helped send nearly 100 rowers onto competing at the four-year level, including Nelson (UC Berkeley). In addition to her coaching career, Moeller rows for the Newport Sea Base and when she’s not in the water, she spent many years as a high-level equestrian competitor in dressage and stadium jumping. Today, OCC is a consistently successful program that goes up against the best four-year programs in the region, garnering attention from around the country … and it all started with the leadership and guidance of coach Linda Moeller.
