Bio

Laura was a cross county and track athlete at OCC in 1978-79 and 1979-80, and earned JC All-American honors. She finished second in the state in the 400 hurdles as a sophomore, and continues to hold OCC school records in four events, including the 400 hurdles. Laura was named the South Coast Conference’s Track and Field Athlete of the Year in 1980, and was OCC’s Female Athlete of the Year for 1979-80. She was a member of two national champion NCAA Division II track teams at Cal Poly San Luis Obispo in 1981 and 1982, and finished seventh in the 400 hurdles at the NCAA championships. She earned her B.S. in physical education at Cal Poly and her M.S. in athletic training at the University of Arizona. She is in her 24th year as head athletic trainer at California State University, San Bernardino, and is also the university’s assistant athletic director for sports medicine.
