Pirates come up short in loss to Fullerton

FULLERTON -- The Orange Coast College women's water polo team took on the state's third-ranked team and came up short, losing to host Fullerton College, 11-4, on Wednesday.

Orange Coast (16-10, 3-3 in Orange Empire Conference) took a 1-0 lead in the first quarter on a goal by Brianna Salas, but the Hornets (22-4, 5-1) responded nine consecutive goals to take the lead for good.

Alyssa Thomas had two fourth-quarter goals for Coast, while Vivianne Mai added a single goal.

Goalie Anna Venturini posted eight saves for the Pirates, who return to action on Thursday at the Orange Empire Conference Tournament. Opponent and times are TBA.
