Doug Smith returns to the Pirate coaching staff for his 18th season, his second under head coach Kevin Emerson.
A 14-year NFL veteran, Smith earned six trips to the Pro Bowl as a member of the Los Angeles Rams. Smith, a native of Columbus, Ohio, played collegiately at Bowling Green University before being drafted by the Rams.
During his tenure with the Rams, he helped L.A. reach the 1979 Super Bowl against the Pittsburgh Steelers, a game in which the Steelers won, 31-19.
Before coming to Coast, Smith coached the offensive and defensive line at the University of Southern California.
Smith resides in Mission Viejo with his wife, Debbie. They have two daughters, Jessica and Jenna, and one son, Cole.
