After four years as an assistant coach for Santa Ana College, Tim Matz comes to OCC for his second season wth the Pirates.

Matz was a teammate of longtime SAC skipper Don Sneddon at both Cerritos College (1972-73) and Cal State Fullerton (1974-75). He was a member of the Titans’ first trip to Omaha for the College World Series.

Matz earned his bachelor’s degree in physical education from Cal State Fullerton.

After playing at Fullerton, Matz played a couple years in an independent baseball league before entering real estate development. He has also been a coach at Mission Viejo High School as well as a coach of several youth teams. He coached two separate teams to the A.A.U. National Championship game.
